Barbara was a prolific painter, specialising in oil paintings and especially well known for her detailed rendition of flowers, and her miniatures. Perhaps Barbara wasn't the most structured of painters, painting in whatever style she felt like in the moment.

When I met Barbara, she still had a large number of painting stored in her attic. The Barbara Tate gallery images below is just small sample of her prolific output.

    I agree with you - the visitors is a really beautiful painting. The picture here doesn't really do it justice. It was jointly painted by Barbara and her husband Jim and is quite unlike any of her other work.

    There is a strong reference to Alice In Wonderland, with hte little girl bottom right and all these strange creatures from another world.

    Well what else can I say? I've just finished her book ( West End Girls) in tears, what an ending! I thought I would Google her and find out more and wow these are amazing. I really love Medusa but they are all brilliant. Mae is just as I thought she would be. Also I agree that visitors is beautiful, just not my think x

    Had Google this Auhtor just read her book ' West End Girls', briiliant read.I highly recommend it.

    In the middle of her book... and my interest was piqued as to who this amazing woman was...... She has left plenty behind her....apart from her own 'people' obviously..... :)
